|SOMETIMES, WE’RE GUILTY OF ASSUMING TOO MUCH, RIGHT? We recently realized that we’ve probably wrongly assumed that ALL of you—our valued patients—know Dr. Tere as well as we do! That’s probably not the case.
So, We Asked Dr. Tere A Few Questions
We asked Dr. Tere a few questions to help you get to know her a little better. Those questions are found below—along with her candid answers! Enjoy!
Where are you originally from?
The better question is how did I get born in Nebraska! In all of my life wonderings I never really “felt at home” until I moved to Montana in 1993. That said I was raised in Lincoln, NE and attended UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln.
What made you decide that you wanted to become a Dentist?
I really have no idea of the turning point. I remember every dental office visit, even as a small child I remember my mothers dental appointments! I spent a lot of time in the dental office and the orthodontist office. When I graduated from high school I didn’t want to go to College, so I took a dental assisting course. One of the first dentist I worked with was extremely encouraging and would teach me things on extracted teeth.
When I was 19 there were two things I wanted…to be a Dentist and live in Montana (don’t know where that came from I had never been there before). I eventually went to hygiene school and told my graduating class that I was going to dental school one day! At our ten year class reunion I was entering my first year of dental school.
When you started as a Dentist was there something funny that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?
I used to apologize to my patients for having to put up with my perfectionism tendencies, telling them a long story blaming it all on my mother! One day my patient looked up at me and said “Tere, that’s why we come to you!” I appreciated that part of my upbringing ever since.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
When I’m not working… my favorite thing is to mentor dentists at the Spear education center in Scottsdale,AZ (what’s not to love about Scottsdale). I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren. I love photography and travel too.
What do you enjoy most about being a Dentist ?
I LOVE all things dental! I once thought about becoming a specialist but there wasn’t anything I wanted to give up. I love developing long term relationships with my patients. I truly love working with my Dental Distinctions’s team and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team. The most gratifying thing to me is working with patients who have some kind of block to obtaining the dentistry they deserve, whether it’s fear, finances, time or value and helping them to put their health first.
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. Tere a little better. Here at Dental Distinctions we feel really fortunate to have her as the leader of our awesome team.
