Say Hello To Our Awesome Dental Assistant, Carrie!

Dental Distinctions - Carrie

SOMETIMES, WE’RE GUILTY OF ASSUMING TOO MUCH, RIGHT? We recently realized that we’ve probably wrongly assumed that ALL of you—our valued patients—know Carrie as well as we do! That’s probably not the case.

So, We Asked Carrie A Few Questions

We asked Carrie a few questions to help you get to know her a little better. Those questions are found below—along with her candid answers! Enjoy!

Where are you originally from?

Goldendale Washington; small, which is why I gravitated toward kalispell so much.

What made you decide that you wanted to become a dental assistant?

I was a single mother of two and in a work-study program. After several bouts of tests and word programs they had an assistant class that was just starting that my adviser thought I’d be perfect for. A month into the class….I could have kissed her! Anyone that I’ve ever helped at the front desk would understand.

When you started as a dental assistant was there something funny that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?

When I first started dentistry I saw alot of kids, and with that you do exam check up x-rays. My first Lil guy was like 5 years old and had never had an x-ray before. I placed the sensor in the correct spot and asked him to bite down, before I could get my fingers out that kid clamped down like his life depended on it! I had teeth marks in my fingers for an hour. Now I ask them to gently bite down, lesson learned the hard way.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?

My favorite thing is to be absolutely lazy! Curl up on the couch next to my husband and read a good book and drink my “coffee”.

What do you enjoy most about being a dental assistant?

I think my most favorite thing is the connection with my patient’s….I really love them all like family and to see them achieve their dental goals is super satisfying. It’s like I’m saving the world one tooth at a time!

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Carrie a little better. Here at Dental Distinctions we feel really fortunate to have her as a member of our awesome team.
